The wider ecosystem
Nyuchi is the workshop. Bundu is the wilderness.
Bundu is Shona for wilderness — the natural world, the source. The Bundu Ecosystem is the collective name for the entire ecosystem: Mukoko on the consumer side, Nyuchi on the commercial side, sister brands across specialist verticals, all governed by the Bundu Foundation.
Three pillars
Sister brands, shared spine.
Every brand under Bundu inherits the same five-mineral design system, the same identity layer, and the same engineering doctrine — outdoor-readable, offline-tolerant, multi-language by default. What differs is the audience and the surface.
Pillar 1 — Mukoko: the consumer super-app. Seventeen mini-apps, four substrate components, one identity, one Twin. Pillar 2 — Nyuchi Africa: the commercial layer sold to organisations, communities, and governments. Pillar 3 — Shamwari AI: the community pillar — African AI companion, the Digital Twin's conversational interface. Foundation initiatives sit alongside the pillars: ZIP (Zimbabwe Information Platform — verification, directories, travel-and-business information) and Bundu Education (with Nyuchi Learning as its commercial expression). Barstool is a Mukoko sub-brand, not a sibling pillar.
The Nyuchi Design Portal is the contribution architecture for the whole ecosystem — components, design tokens, the Ubuntu doctrine, and the data taxonomy that everything else is built against. The whole is greater than its parts because the parts share a foundation, not because anyone is asked to use them all.
-
Bundu Foundation
The Foundation (Zimbabwe CLG). Its main activity is research into infrastructure gaps in African and emerging markets; everything else — pillars, initiatives, projects, and the four-token economy (MIT, MXT, NST, NHC) — is downstream of that research. Bundu is Shona for wilderness.

Bundu Foundation governance
Three categories under the Foundation.
Foundation projects. Open-source technical
projects: Neural Transfer Layer (NTL), Nyuchi Honeycomb,
SiafuDB, SiafuDB-Kuzu, and Harare Metro. These live in the
bundu-labs,
openNTL, and
siafuDB GitHub
organisations. Foundation-governed; operated by the pillars.
Foundation initiatives. Programmes, not products. ZIP (Zimbabwe Information Platform) provides verification, directories, and travel-and-business information for domestic and international use. Bundu Education is the education arm, with Nyuchi Learning as its commercial expression. Nyuchi Gov Tech is the government services initiative — run by Bundu Labs, the Foundation's development arm, building digital ecosystems for governments across Africa.
Foundation-governed, pillar-operated. All four platform tokens (MIT, MXT, NST, NHC) are governed by the Foundation. Mukoko operates MIT and MXT on the consumer side; Nyuchi operates NST and NHC as part of the Honeycomb decentralised storage network (beyond Web3, post-quantum ready, in active development) — sovereign Web3 pods live there.
Mukoko — seventeen mini-apps
The consumer side of the same hive.
Mukoko is composed of seventeen mini-apps — each a fully navigable, standalone experience, all running on the same Nyuchi infrastructure underneath, all bound to one Mukoko ID. The list is canonical from the Mukoko Manifesto.
-
Campfire
Communication
The platform anchor. All direct and group messaging — and every cross-app notification (BushTrade bookings, Nhimbe reminders, Wallet requests, Shamwari AI responses) arrives here.
-
Pulse
Communication
Personalised content feed (v1) and agentic home dashboard (v2 via Mukoko Home). The first surface most users see when they open Mukoko.
-
Mukoko News
Content & Media
African journalism, news, and stock signals. Standalone platform with its own backend and database project.
-
Bytes
Content & Media
Short-form video. The creator economy layer of the platform — creators own their content and revenue split is enforced by smart contract, not policy.
-
Novels
Content & Media
African long-form storytelling and publishing. Authors keep 80%+; co-authors split revenue automatically through smart contracts.
-
Circles
Community
Interest groups, fan communities, professional networks. The persistent social fabric.
-
Nhimbe
Community
Events and gatherings. Where the digital platform produces physical community — festivals, meetups, ceremonies. Nhimbe is the Shona word for a community work gathering.
-
BushTrade
Commerce & Economy
Africa's marketplace. Rentals primary, sales expanding. Standalone platform with its own backend. Delivery fulfilment powered by Nyuchi Logistics.
-
Wallet
Commerce & Economy
MXT, mobile money (EcoCash, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money), bank transfers, crypto, card. First-class economic layer for the 60% who are unbanked. Powered by Nyuchi Pay.
-
Jobs
Commerce & Economy
Employment discovery — formal, informal, and gig economy. Professional matching and credential verification via Mukoko ID.

Transport
Place & Movement
Public transport routing (Harare Metro open-source backbone), vehicle booking, and delivery tracking. Consumer surface for Nyuchi Logistics.
-
Mukoko Lingo
Knowledge & Wellness
African language learning. Shona and Ndebele primary. English, French, Portuguese, and travel phrase courses. Standalone platform with its own backend.
-
Weather
Knowledge & Wellness
Hyperlocal forecasts, severe weather alerts, and farming intelligence. Community weather observations flow through the open data pipeline.
-
Health
Knowledge & Wellness
Health information, telemedicine booking, medication reminders. Sensitive health records stored in the sovereign Digital Twin pod, not in platform databases. Consumer surface for Nyuchi Medical.
-
Planner
Knowledge & Wellness
Calendar, tasks, bookings, and notes consolidated. Every time-committed activity across the platform writes here automatically — Nhimbe RSVPs, BushTrade bookings, Campfire meetings.
-
Mukoko ID
Identity
One login, one Digital Twin, one reputation across all 17 mini-apps and every Nyuchi enterprise product. Five verification tiers — unverified, community, OTP, government, licensed.
Mukoko — four substrate components
The ground everything stands on.
These are not mini-apps. No navigation, no home screen — the infrastructure that makes the seventeen mini-apps cohere as one ecosystem.
-
Digital Twin
Your sovereign AI. Three concentric intelligence layers: personal (your pod data, encrypted and sovereign), community (anonymised platform data), and platform (base Mukoko knowledge). The conversational interface is Shamwari — friend in Shona. Lives in your Web3 pod on the Nyuchi Honeycomb network. Cryptographically bound to your MIT soulbound token.
-
Mukoko Home
The ambient agentic surface the Twin expresses itself through — phone, desk monitor, kitchen display, lounge TV. Pulse v2 toggle. Connects Mukoko to external services via MCP (Model Context Protocol). The orchestration centre of your digital life.
-
MUKOKO Token
Two-token economic protocol. MIT (Identity) is soulbound, non-transferable, anchored to your date of birth, with three temporal pools (Year 60% / Month 30% / Day 10%). MXT (Exchange) is transferable, elastic, deployed on Polygon — initial supply 3 billion, baseline 10,000 MXT per new verified user, annual ceiling 15%, burn rate 30% of platform fees.
-
Ubuntu Layer
The community conscience. Contribution scoring, badges, missions, leaderboards, governance. The Ubuntu Multiplier amplifies governance voice for committed community members. The ethical fabric running across everything.
